In the UK, gas-lift storage beds are often called Ottoman beds. In most other markets, “gas lift storage bed” is the clearer product term. The mechanism, frame, mattress and opening direction must be treated as one system.

Configuration points

Buyer decisions before quotation

Confirm the market, required sizes, mattress type, preferred opening direction and expected storage finish. Hardware should not be selected from appearance alone; incorrect force or geometry can make operation unsafe or inconvenient.

Sampling and verification

A sample should be assembled with the intended mattress or an agreed test load. Check opening effort, holding position, closing behaviour, clearances, fasteners and repeated operation. Non-standard structures require engineering and testing review.

Packing considerations

Gas struts, brackets and fasteners need identified hardware packs and protected positions. Some models place the lifting frame, slats or footboard behind the headboard to reduce carton count. The final method depends on structure and handling limits.
